If you have ever heard of KLCC then you must have heard of the Petronas Twin Towers, standing tall at 452 meters or a bit over 1,400 feet, the Petronas Twin Towers is one of the world’s most iconic structures around the world and can akin to being the pride of Malaysia’s symbol of growth as an industrialized nation. What makes this structure unique is that on the 41st and 42nd floors of the buildings, there is an interlinked sky bridge between the two towers, which is open to the public on selected times, so grab your cameras and take photos from the bridge of a clear view of the entire KL area from one spot!
Following up from that, what comes to many of the Malaysians minds when the name KLCC comes up has to be the Suria KLCC mall, located in close proximity to the Petronas twin towers, the KLCC mall is iconic in its own ways for being one of the highest standards of shopping in KL, housing over 300 stores, all stretched across a 1 million square feet building. With exclusive branded names such as Givenchy Beauty, Chanel, Kinokuniya just to name a few. And not only that but there is a multitude of cafes set in front of a 50 acre park that comes equipped with a symphonic water fountain. There is a unique celebration that the mall hosts on occasion, which is to decorate the mall inside the center, as well as the location outside that connects the mall to the park based on the current holiday that is happening, to celebrate the wide amount of cultures that represent Malaysia.
Community Diversity of KLCC
Of course being the heart of the country comes with its residency being rich with a cultural diversity from all over the world, as well as former and even current professionals, expats or expatriates, and more renowned families.
But the exclusive neighborhood of such figures comes with its residents living primarily in higher end condos, serviced apartments, or upscale residences to name a few. Among the many well known residencies that are located around the KL area, we will only cover three here today that you must know if you consider moving to KL after experiencing the cultures and ways of life in Malaysia.
The first on the list is Taman Tun Dr Ismail, otherwise known as TTDI for short, is considered to be one of KL’s prime residential townships. What makes TTDI unique is that it offers a location where a community can live, learn, work and play all in one neighborhood, which fosters a strong sense of belonging in a community and a kind of community spirit for any that stay in the area.
The next neighborhood we’ll be covering is Mont Kiara, home to a neighborhood that is rich in cultural diversity as well as a strong community as well. Mont Kiara is the place to stay if you’re looking for a community that has a strong international based community. If you are a family with children too, there is the fantastic option to send your children to Mont Kiara’s international school. They even have a Mont Kiara community Facebook with over 20,000 members, so it does get some postings on a daily basis. Apart from the community and education, there is also a multitude of parks and many outdoor recreational options to choose from; making it perfect for those that enjoy walks, jogs, or hikes.
The last on the list is the neighborhood of Damansara Heights, a location well known to be the neighborhood that many aspires to settle down in. Having the reputation on par to other well known international suburbs such as either Beverly Hills or New York’s Upper East Side. Damansara Heights, or otherwise known as Bukit Damansara, consists of a high amount of luxurious residential buildings and homes.

Having lived around the KLCC area such as nearby residences like Dawn KLCC, there are many things that you can expect from the melting pot of Malaysia. Primarily a large mix of both old and modern buildings are sprawled all throughout the entirety of the city center, in conjunction to that, there are many food places that represent these types of buildings, from classic Malaysian food to modern day fusion cafes or restaurants hidden away in different areas of KL; and with the central train hub called KL Central, you can travel to many parts of Malaysia, and even take an overnight train ride that will take you directly to the border of Thailand if you plan to have a trip there, making travel extremely convenient.
Not only are there eateries of any kind all over the Kuala Lumpur central areas, if you are looking for job opportunities or just trying to figure out your work life balance, those working in KL will have to find time on how to balance out their life during and off of work. Luckily for most working environments around KL, there will be a plethora of places to eat and chat with your co-workers during your time off, just a few minutes away from most offices.
Setting aside the morning lifestyle of those that plan to live around the KLCC area, there are also a multitude of options for night owls, or those that want to wind down after a long day of working. From the bustling local cuisine served by street food stalls, to high end restaurants that offer views of the whole lit city at night; there are an endless amount of dining experiences for nightlife goers. One of the most notable places to go for any nighttime goer would be Changkat Bukit Bintang, the most definitive place for all nightlife goers, party people, etc.
Filled to the brim with international restaurants, nightclubs, bars, or pubs, you’ll find a place to party in every corner of this area. Or if you want to take a step back and relax, you can always enjoy a movie in the TGV cinema at the Suria KLCC mall, which stays open most of the time even after the mall closes.
